Sunday Funday volunteering with ARC
The ARC Snakes in the Heather Sunday Fundays have been put together for groups of families and friends who want to support local wildlife whilst learning all about it too. They take place on Parley Common; a heathland nature reserve which is home to all sorts of wonderful and unique species including reptiles like the smooth snake.
You will be joining regular volunteers to help clear invasive pine trees, making a bonfire with the waste trees and stopping half-way for a break, which is the chance to learn a few fun facts about the UK’s reptiles.
The activities may be adapted if it is wet or windy. Please dress in layered clothing and bring any extra snacks and drinks you might want with you. Snacks and hot drinks are provided for everyone and tools for the adults only. All ages are welcome; children must be supervised at all times.
The meeting point is the Barrack Road entrance, BH22 8UB; drive up Barrack Road until you reach the lay by with the ARC gate by the waterfall. Call 07388 948442 if you cannot spot us.
