UHP Snakes in the Heather Volunteering

Christmas tree Sunday funday volunteering

ARC’s Snakes in the Heather Sunday Fundays have been put together for groups of families and friends who want to support local wildlife whilst learning all about it too. They take place on Parley Common in Dorset; a heathland nature reserve which is home to all sorts of wonderful and unique species including reptiles like the smooth snake.

For this, their special Christmas Tree Sunday Funday, meet at The Centre car park, where you will be given a hand saw before everyone walks the 10 minutes to the site. Once there you will be invited to pick a Christmas tree you would like to take home. Everyone will then remove some of the other trees and, weather permitting, have a bonfire. Please remember that you will need to carry your chosen tree back to the car park!

All ages are welcome; only adults will be given the tools and children must be supervised at all times. Please bring any snacks and drinks with you.

Note; these are invasive maritime pines so will not be quite as bushy as Christmas trees you can buy from a shop. However, by removing them you not only get to pick your own tree, but you help heathland ecology.

If you are running late on the day, please call 07388 948 442.
